The highlight of this week was my visits to Littleport Primary and Ely St Mary to meet the rising Year 7s. At Littleport I had an hour with each class and was really impressed with their writing and attitude to learning. The teachers and class assistants were also superb and I can't thank them enough for being so accommodating. At Ely, it was great to meet and talk to both Year 6 teachers and then to meet with the students to talk about Transition and what they want from their new school. I believe student voice is vital - they are our 'clients' and we will always listen to their views and opinions to improve what we offer them.

I had a very positive conference call with CCS - our caterers - this week and we are in the process of finalising the concept and design of the canteen area. I'm confident the students and our visitors will really like what we've come up with and it will be a place where the students enjoy eating together. The modern menu is also designed so students have a great choice of both 'sit down' meals or grab and go options as well as vegetarian meals and a healthy selection of drinks.

In the next few weeks, I will be sending a parent survey to all of our primaries to forward to parents, in order to gather data on music lessons and provision. We will be offering music lessons in the school day, run by Cambridgeshire Music, and we need to know what our students would like. As well as lessons, we will offer instrument hire so if your child doesn't play and would like to learn, we will be able to help organise this.

The time to think about uniform is almost upon us, so the following information will help. Both the Littleport primaries will be organising fittings in the coming weeks which they will inform parents about - please contact them to find out exactly when these are likely to be. The webshop will be open on June 1st for online orders. The website is The final date to note is July 17th when Total Clothing will be at Neale Wade Academy from 4.30 - 6.30pm to provide a professional fitting and ordering service. I will also be there to talk to parents and students before the Summer holidays start so I hope to see you there.

This week is busy again. I'm looking forward to meeting the rising Year 7s at Millfield Primary on Wednesday afternoon then am straight into a Parent Forum meeting at St George's at 5.30pm. There is always space for more people at the Forum and it would be great to meet more of you so please do come along if you can. To finish the week I am meeting with Morgan Sindall and the project managers to discuss wayfinding and signage at the Academy - it's the details that count at this stage!

Have a good week and I hope you all have a restful half term.
