Between this and the last blog, more excellent progress has been made both on site and behind the scenes.
During half term, we had The Cambridge News on site to see first hand the impressive buildings on the campus and to discuss the vision of both LECA and Highfield Littleport. Together with the new Leisure Centre, it really will be a hub for the whole of Littleport and the surrounding area and we all look forward to opening the doors in just a few short months time.
On Monday last week, we had a visit from Ofsted which went extremely well. A lot of people have asked how they can do this without a building and students but they have ensure we are fit to open in every aspect, from safeguarding, to lighting, to outside areas, to extra curricular. I'm happy to say the visit went very smoothly; a result of all the hard work of the team at the Active Learning Trust.
The transition work continues with another school visit this week. On Thursday I am at Downham Feoffees to meet with the rising Year 7s and their teacher and parents. I look forward to learning more about the students and to answer any questions they have.
Before that, on Tuesday, I will be meeting with Tracy Sanders who represents the Prince William Award. This is a superb scheme that leads to a nationally recognised award which I intend to run for all students next year. The link for more info on this is here: http://www.skillforce.org/programmes/browse/prince-william-award/ I'm sure you will agree it is a great opportunity for students to improve their leadership skills, independence and resilience.
By now, all parents should have received their parent handbooks by email or in hard copy. Further paperwork will follow shortly including home/school agreements and student information forms. We need this information to set up our databases so when you receive them please read and sign them and return them as soon as possible. To help, we are partnering up with Neale Wade Academy to run a Transition Information Evening on Thursday June 29th from 5pm - 7.30pm. Myself, Jason Wing and most of the teaching team will be there so you can return your forms in person then. I stongly recommend this event as another opportunity to have your questions answered and to meet the team. We will also have stalls in the main hall showcasing our progress, attendance and behaviour tracker, Go4Schools, and ParentPay, our online payment system. I hope to see you then.
