We said from Day 1 we would promote Growth Mindset and that is what we have done all week. From egg drops to building bridges, Japanese to speed stacking, every lesson of every day has given us countless examples of determination, resilience and outstanding progress from our students. They are already showing what a steely group of young people they are. I am extremely proud of all of them.

The house competition was also launched this week with Bronte house winning overall but the competition was fierce. Only twelve points separated the all four houses so it's clear that the it will be close run competition all year. I look forward to watching the points tally as the term progresses.

The most important aspect for the team at LECA was how we would settle the students but they already look very at home in their new surroundings. They have made the space their own and each form group has it's own unique identity.

This week we were joined by Centre 33 who work with Young Carers and will be visiting regularly over the year.  Reverend Howard Robson from St George's also joined us on Thursday and will be every week for any students who wish to talk to him. We believe very strongly that students need an outlet to talk and discuss ideas and we will have a wide range of visitors over the year to suit every student.

On Monday, we start with regular timetabled lessons and we have designed a broad and balanced curriculum which I am certain the students will enjoy. As promised, we will also start with extra English and Maths for those who need a boost, and I am sure these extra sessions will reap rewards as the year progresses. Parents will all be able to track progress 24/7 when we launch Go4Schools this week. Login details will follow by email.

Choir got off to great start this week with 20 keen singers attending after school on Thursday. Many other students also showed an interest and I do hope more will join next week. Also, in the coming weeks, sports trials will begin as we prepare to take on Fenland and East Cambridgeshire in a busy fixture schedule. I very much look forward to supporting our teams from the touchlines in the coming months.

A final reminder about our three main events this month. On September 19th we have our school photographers taking individual photos and a year group photo. Then, on Thursday 21st from 4pm, we are open for tours of the school until 7pm. Finally, on Wednesday 27th It is our Year 6 Open Evening with two presentations at 5.30pm and 6.30pm. The evening will run from 5pm to 8pm.
