This week the focus has been simple and straightforward: prepare and revise for the final assessments of the year. For this, the students were asked in assembly to reflect on one of our core values and to focus on it for the week. All of our values are based on our central ethos of having a Growth Mindset. Put together they spell the word INSPIRED and we think they sum up exactly what we expect of our students and our teachers.

  • Independent Learners
  • Never Give Up
  • Solution Focussed
  • Progress Driven
  • Innovative
  • Respectful
  • Enthusiastic
  • Determined

We wish the students good luck in the assessments - they have worked hard this year and we're sure they will make the progress they deserve by the end of the year.

On Thursday it was fantastic to once again open the doors to the community and welcome potential future students and parents from Year 5. For some it was the first time they had looked around a secondary school and we're really pleased that they took the time to see what we do and meet the staff and students here. We hope to see you again in September for another chance to showcase the Academy and answer your questions before you make that all-important application to secondary school.

Next week, apart from assessments, the Athletics continues as the students prepare to be selected for the second mini meet of the season. Unfortunately, the first one was cancelled due to poor weather so hopefully the next one will go ahead as planned. It has been great to get out on the field to see the students learning a range of new disciplines including discus, javelin and shot put and being awarded a bronze, silver or gold standard by Mr Tatham. On Friday afternoon it was sprinting, with some superb effort and determination from all the students.

Finally, we would like to wish the Year 6 from all of our feeders the very best of luck in the SATS next week.
