This week began with some more guests at the Academy leading the assembly on Tuesday. This week it was the turn of Shona Macenzie and Sarah Burton from East Cambs District Council sharing the fantastic news that they are launching a Youth Hub at the Leisure Centre on Thursday June 21st from 5pm - 7pm. The Hub will be a place for our students to meet and take part in activities and our students were asked what they wanted to be on offer. We will be contacting Shona and Sarah with our ideas this week. As well as activities the Hub will offer support from organisations such as CHUMS and Centre 33 and I hope our students take the opportunity to talk to these professionals if they feel they want to.

In the classrooms it was a quiet week as assessments were taking place. It's a tough week for the students going from one assessment to another but, judging by some initial analysis, their hard work this year has paid off. Most students have made excellent progress across their subjects and we look forward to sharing some very positive data with our parents at Parents' Evening this Thursday.

Out of the classroom the athletics team competed in their first competitive meet over at Thomas Clarkson. There were some fabulous performances in both track and field events most notably a first place in the 4x100 girls relay and an individual win for Kira Simmonds in the 200m. Well done to all the athletes in their first outing and good luck to team when they compete again this week. Credit again goes to Mr Tatham who has prepared and trained his teams so well throughout the year.

This week we are also excited to begin our partnership with Sara Ford and 4th Dimension Dance. Sara will be using LECA as her permanent base not only for her dance lessons but also for shows in the future. We look forward to having Sara and her team around the Academy and I hope our students take advantage of the opportunities she will offer as we move forward.

Finally, plans for the LECA Young Person Award camp have moved forward quickly and we now have a site booked for all students who complete their 20 hours of activity this term. The camp will be on Friday July 13th and the students will have a range of activities including games, camping skills and, of course, a barbeque. Fingers crossed for good weather as it should be great evening and thanks to Mrs Digby for running the award throughout the year.
